St. Luke's is committed to practicing hospitality to all of God's people. One of the first things people will notice when they walk into the gathering area is our Welcome Station. The Welcome Station not only holds information about the congregation but also material about upcoming events.
One of the mainstays of the Welcome Station is a group of helpful volunteers easily identifiable with red bandanas and a helpful smile on a Sunday morning. Staying with the railroad theme, they are the St. Luke's Conductors.
Several new people are joining the Hospitality Team to continue their ministry around the Welcome Station and are putting into place a new process of contacting first time visitors. They also oversee the New Member Process as more and more people make St. Luke's their church home.
The Hospitality Ministry of St. Luke's attempts to go out the doors of the building as we proactively invite people into the ministry of the congregation:
- We practice Random Acts of Christian Kindness such as offering cold water to people enjoying the downtown Fourth of July parade
- We hope to host an art exhibit of some of the talented students and professors from Carroll College
- We look for every opportunity to welcome people into the circle of Grace which surrounds our ministry and mission
When all is said and done, we understand Hospitality is not a program or the responsibility of any one group of people, but that Hospitality is an atmosphere of openness to the gifts and stories people bring with them when they come to St. Luke's.
